Factors that influence this are changes in advances in medical technology. Technological advances mean that a growing number of patients need specialist weaning support to be liberated from mechanical ventilation or ongoing care.
REMEO® can provide:
Individualised assessment and treatment
Progressive rehabilitation and emotional support accompanied by an individualised program
Specialised exercise equipment designed to increase mobility
Comprehensive management, discharge planning and follow-up.
Some of these patients require invasive ventilation (IV) and some require non-invasive ventilation (NIV). IV in particular is a highly complex undertaking, often requiring patients to remain in an intensive care unit (ICU). ICU’s however, are not designed for prolonged stays and they offer limited access to rehabilitation.
Bridging the gap
REMEO® is an innovative service for long-term mechanically ventilated patients, offering an integrated care pathway that bridges the gap between the acute critical care setting and a patient’s home.
Enhancing quality of life
Building on our global commitment to excellence in long-term mechanical ventilation care, we combine medical expertise, therapeutic skills and clinical care to help reduce patient ventilator dependency. In addition, ventilation care provided at home can enable patients to achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life, with the added advantage of reduced exposure to common hospital infections.
Dedicated clinical care
REMEO® in partnership with BOC and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust have developed the Lane Fox REMEO® Respiratory Centre to provide patients with additional access to a dedicated weaning facility for patients with ventilator dependency. The Centre is located in Redhill, Surrey and provides specialist care for up to 20 in-patients in a unique setting promoting rehabilitation and independence.
In addition to this REMEO® will create bespoke complex care for individual patients requiring ongoing support at home. The packages of care will be designed in collaboration with the referring clinical team, patient and the expertise of our clinical nurses. At REMEO® we believe that healthcare delivered at home should ensure that patients will safely achieve their greatest level of independence.
We will ensure that all staff recruited work with tailored service specifications to meet clinical, and lifestyle requirements, from the commencement of the service. Regular reviews by our senior clinical team will ensure that the care delivered continues to meet the service requirements, maintaining a patient centered approach to their evolving clinical and lifestyle requirements.
